wget http://mirrors.syringanetworks.net/gnu/emacs/emacs-24.5.tar.gz
tar xzf emacs-24.5.tar.gz
cd emacs-24.5/

./configure --with-xml2 --with-zlib --without-x --without-sound --without-xpm \
  --without-jpeg --without-tiff --without-gif --without-png --without-rsvg \
  --without-imagemagick --without-xft --without-libotf --without-m17n-flt \
  --without-xaw3d --without-toolkit-scroll-bars --without-gpm --without-dbus \
  --without-gconf --without-gsettings --without-makeinfo \
  --without-compress-install

Dan:

$ ls -l /usr/local/bin/

Setelah Anda mengunduh dan mengekstraknya, build mengikuti configure <options> && make && make install biasa konvensi.

`configure' configures emacs 24.3 to adapt to many kinds of systems.

Usage: ./configure [OPTION]... [VAR=VALUE]...

To assign environment variables (e.g., CC, CFLAGS...), specify them as
VAR=VALUE. See below for descriptions of some of the useful variables.

Defaults for the options are specified in brackets.

Configuration:
-h, --help display this help and exit
--help=short display options specific to this package
--help=recursive display the short help of all the included packages
-V, --version display version information and exit
-q, --quiet, --silent do not print `checking ...' messages
--cache-file=FILE cache test results in FILE [disabled]
  -C, --config-cache alias for `--cache-file=config.cache'
-n, --no-create do not create output files
--srcdir=DIR find the sources in DIR [configure dir or `..']

Installation directories:
--prefix=PREFIX install architecture-independent files in PREFIX
                          [/usr/local]
--exec-prefix=EPREFIX install architecture-dependent files in EPREFIX
                          [PREFIX]

By default, `make install' will install all the files in
`/usr/local/bin', `/usr/local/lib' etc. You can specify
an installation prefix other than `/usr/local' using `--prefix',
for instance `--prefix=$HOME'.

For better control, use the options below.

Fine tuning of the installation directories:
  --bindir=DIR user executables [EPREFIX/bin]

Optional Features:
  --disable-option-checking ignore unrecognized --enable/--with options
--disable-FEATURE do not include FEATURE (same as --enable-FEATURE=no)
  --enable-FEATURE[=ARG] include FEATURE [ARG=yes]
  --disable-ns-self-contained
disable self contained build under NeXTstep
  --enable-locallisppath=PATH
directories Emacs should search for lisp files
                          specific to this site
  --enable-checking[=LIST]
enable expensive run-time checks. With LIST, enable
only specific categories of checks. Categories are:
                          all,yes,no. Flags are: stringbytes, stringoverrun,
                          stringfreelist, xmallocoverrun, conslist, glyphs
  --enable-check-lisp-object-type
enable compile time checks for the Lisp_Object data
type. This is useful for development for catching
                          certain types of bugs.
--enable-profiling build emacs with low-level, gprof profiling support.
Mainly useful for debugging Emacs itself. May not
work on all platforms. Stops profiler.el working.
--enable-autodepend automatically generate dependencies to .h-files.
Requires GNU Make and Gcc. Enabled if GNU Make and
                          Gcc is found
  --disable-dependency-tracking speeds up one-time build
--enable-dependency-tracking do not reject slow dependency extractors
--disable-largefile omit support for large files
--enable-gcc-warnings turn on lots of GCC warnings/errors. This is
intended for developers, and may generate false
alarms when used with older or non-GNU development
                          tools.
  --enable-link-time-optimization
build emacs with link-time optimization. This is
supported only for GCC since 4.5.0.
